Infineon Technologies is teaming up with Qualcomm Technologies to accelerate the development and rollout of central car computers for software-defined vehicles. The two companies have signed a technology agreement that pairs a microcontroller-based subsystem from Infineon with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Ride reference platforms for high-performance computing and in-vehicle AIartificial intelligence.

The collaboration is aimed at central vehicle architectures that combine driver assistance, automated driving and digital cockpit functions. Infineon says the approach links Qualcomm’s SoC-based compute platforms with supporting hardware and software for safety management, connectivity and memory management, creating a more integrated path for vehicle computers built around centralized processing.

At the core of the subsystem is an Infineon AURIX microcontroller, supported by OPTIREG IC1. integrated circuitIC is the common term for an integrated circuit.2. ion chromatographyAnalytical method that separates and identifies the components of a mixture.s for power management. The subsystem is intended to run alongside Snapdragon Ride and Ride Flex platforms, where it monitors system health, coordinates safety mechanisms and enables predictable real-time control of safety-critical functions.

Infineon is also providing a dedicated software package for the microcontroller subsystem. It pre-integrates the firmware for the AURIX device with safety and monitoring software tailored to Qualcomm’s platforms, with the goal of helping carmakers and Tier-1 suppliers develop and scale systems faster. The package also simplifies integration into vehicle networks such as Ethernet and CAN for faster and secure data exchange.

Beyond the subsystem itself, Infineon is adding BRIGHTLANE Automotive Ethernet and USB connectivity solutions as well as SEMPER NOR Flash memory qualified for Snapdragon Ride platforms. These components are intended to support data flow, availability and integrity across the platform stack.

The companies position the combined platform as a foundation for a new generation of central car computers for automated driving and digital cockpit applications. Infineon will present related semiconductor and system solutions at electronica 2026 in Munich.
